1. 29-11-2007 17:46 BRICK STACKING He is all shyness And innocence With shaggy black hair His dark eyes avoiding Filled with quiet despair Walking with the others Down a long dirt road No bats are balls Not even a roller skate Their laughter small Not yet wide awake They go day after day Not off to school It's not allowed They can't participate Where lessons are learned And sports are played For they're off to work At the brick factory Where hundreds do toil Lured there by poverty Working little men Punished if slacking With hands so small Skin torn and scarring Bound for life To the brick stacking In Cambodia And he will ask Oh, someone Will you be devine Could you possibly exist Outside my mind As I stack my brick Will somone please care As I take my steps Will someone be there To save me Through this childs Little fingertips His exquisite touch Of gentleness He has come forth In splendidness To blossom with Pure intelligence For he should be A child adored The essence of humanity Now borne, unknown In a world of depravity And with his hand Bleeding and raw He strives hard To carry each brick For the wealthy that live In the distant far To build their foundation A fortress strong And for his labor Only pennies are paid He struggles for his family He needs to protect So that they won't starve Or ever beg Day after day His whole life long He begins to erect Inside his mind His own pyramid In Cambodia And he will ask Oh, someone Will you be mine Could you possibly be Someone to find As I stack my brick Will someone please share As I walk this path Will someone be fair To honor me Cee Boh Ling c. 11/07 2. 30-11-2007 11:44 This is so sad. I hope that we will soon end this. 3. 30-11-2007 15:18 Very good poem and the video is very good to inspire or sadin ppl but along with the poem its a good visual! Good work and keep writing! 4. 01-12-2007 07:56 This is a tragic thing.. All chilgren should be afforded the proper education and the chance to just be kids... Something has to be done about this...I am truly outraged at this.... 5. 01-12-2007 08:02 A single voice, its echo meets two slumbering voices. Three strong voices cries loudly, and awakes other sleeping tones of voices. Cooperating human whispers, will eventually become a roar A howl that silences the hunger of power and the proclaiming of war ©Margareth Osju Arverud.// Översättning /Translate: Anette© Broström Contact www.margarethosju.com 6. 01-12-2007 08:07 This is so sad. Unfortunately, child labor is happening all over the world. All children should have a chance to love & enjoy their life as a child. 7. 01-12-2007 08:31 My first attempt to post did not work, so here I am again. All children should be free to be children, not made to work for little or no money. All children deserve medical care and education and be allowed to grow into adults who will make our world a better place. 8. 01-12-2007 08:43 The poor kids. I wish I could take one home with me and let them be a kid. 9. 01-12-2007 09:19 It is sad that children are forced to work at such a young age and that their opinion of themselves depends on how hard they work. It is not right. I appreciate the people that took the videos so that people around the world could really see what's going on. That is the only way we see these things. I will lift up these children in prayer. 10. 01-12-2007 09:19 this is very tragic . . .A video exploring the conditions of child workers in a brick factory and the obstacles this creates to their education and development. 11. 01-12-2007 10:22 Artsy, I can see how this would impact you so much but what I'd like to say is that it is happening right here in our own country. Child abuse of every kind and the worst human failure of ours is Darfur. Children die by the hundreds for lack of food and medicine. Baby boys are killed by having their private parts cut off. This has been going on since 2002 and NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING. WE NEED TO BOYCOT ANYTHING FROM CHINA BECAUSE THEY ARE ALLOWING THIS ALL TO HAPPEN FOR WHAT, OIL, YES OIL it always comes down to money and for that millions have been killed and yet no one cries for the dead babies and the raped Mothers who cry over their dead husband's bodies. We all need to talk about it, NOT AGAIN, isn't working, DARFUR is happening and won't stop till we all say NO MORE KILLING. 11/30/2007 3:12:09 PM 12. 01-12-2007 10:57 This is so very sad.. you see things like this taking place and you know that they are, but yet people here still compalin about having to work at all.. people sometimes tend to expect to be taken care of and not have to work, yet here are children .. children the ages of my own children having to do hard work.. Things like these just go to show how thankful we all should be for everything we have even if it's not much. 13. 01-12-2007 12:33 We think we are helpless to intervene in this type of thing. In reality in changing our consumer habits we are able to change regional poverty. Be aware of where each and every purchase you make. Who are you supporting and what is that person or companies role in the community in which they operate. These kids are exploited due to the ignorance of all, not just those that enslave them. 14. 01-12-2007 13:28 THIS IS REALLY SAD THAT THOSE POOR LITTLE KIDS HAVE TO WORK AND GET TREATED LIKE THIS. THEY NEED TO END CHILD LABOR ASAP. 15. 01-12-2007 15:42 This is truly tragic, thank you for bringing this to light. God bless all the children. 16. 01-12-2007 19:17 These poor children as well as the children in Darfur and other places where they are treated as nothing but 'worker bees' with little value is wrong. We have to take a strong stand - through our purchases, through our voices, through our pens, through sharing the information. Thank you for doing your part. Your poem is powerful yet beautiful and poignant. The video is heartbreaking with it's sadness and resignation. 17. 03-12-2007 07:26 She offered me to post one of my best poems that would fit into this situation. After watching the Cambodian Child Labor movie, it devastated me. Considering I have friends who used to live there as a child, even thinking about that, kills me. Here is the poem, I had made in the past time, and I hope this creates encouragement to help these children in Cambodia. Decisions If we had a choice Between life and death Would it make us rejoice Or would it be another lifeless breath? If we had to choose To die now or live eternity Would you say your last goodbyes To see the next life that God has for thee? Or would you live to see What lies beneath the words from someone who dies? If you had to choose Between watching someone die as you are able to do nothing. And to kill that someone who is doing everything that's something. Would you do it? If you had nothing to lose But your life? If you were chosen to save Would you save a child from a burning house? Or would you be a little less brave And pass it to go to Europe with a free browse? Would you do things that you normally wouldn't do Live to see the world at its end Save a young heart from the massive truth? To watch yourself lose a best friend? Tell me, would you? Copyright: Elizabeth Boyd 18. 03-12-2007 10:21 Our children are so privileged and they don't even realize it. 19. 03-12-2007 14:56 I work long hours and for little pay and I get up early to start each day. The time goes by and I'm filled with pain, still I can't stop working, I've too much to gain. But I am a child. Do other people suffer and dread each day? Do they go to bed weary and get up the same way? Do they face constant danger with no choice at all? Do they help make bricks in their own personal wall? But I am a child. Aren't children God's blessing and supposed to bring love? Aren't they full of laughter and joy from above? So, why is MY life so filled with despair? And why do I feel there's no one to care? When I am a child. My body grows old and my mind grows numb, With no education, am I doomed to be dumb? And where are the adults to take care of me? They sent me to work in the brick factory. And I am a child. Donna Jennings Terry 20. 03-12-2007 22:16 This is sad, they don't get to leave their childhood as other kids... Thank you, this video is a good step in the direction to help spreading the word about this. 21. 06-12-2007 16:42 CHILD OF MINE Life is colors of prisms Your image is undefined And the world can be A kalideoscope of horrors But I can see you in my mind What is past Is irreversible We can't change it Even when we try Accepting it Can be the way out So will you seek So will you find All tho' you may be far And touch We may never do You are a child of mine And each day I pray for you I hear you when you whisper I see your source of pain I'm listening so intently I feel your constant refrain I know your look And my tears come forth Just like the falling rain For you are a child of mine and each moment I pray for you For I do not know What else to do And here it comes Your cold of day As you talk to me In your frightened way Your sky has darkened Gone is your light All natural motion Lies silent and still For you are waiting Out the changes I know you're going to fight Just like the cold Of the winter chill And I see my tears falling Like the leaves Off a dying tree And what you are to know here Is your right to be free So I pray for you And I pray all day For what you dream I must find a way For you are a child of mine And I can't let things stay This saddened way For our wisdom is lingering This is what we're taught That knowledge is forthcoming But only if it's saught And the palettes of injustice Must all be fought For you are a child of mine And my tears are coming Like the falling rain I wish for you A magical life That's bearing no stain As I will listen to you To take away a little Of your pain For you are a child of mine And this is why I pray. c. 12/07 Only registered users can write comments. |
