 Sovanna Phum Cambodia’s traditional performing arts kept alive by Sovanna Phum Theatre. Cambodia has a long and rich tradition of performing arts, which involves folk and masks dance, classical dance, music theatre and shadow puppetry. Though originally influenced by Indian culture, Cambodia’s performing arts have evolved and are unique in style and expression. After the years of depression and war, Cambodia’s art scene is finally going through a phase of revival. Sovanna Phum (“Golden Era”) Khmer Arts Association has been at the forefront of this process since 1994, organizing performances and helping Cambodian artist by offering possibilities for artists to be able to make a living through their art. This unique theatre in Street 360 has regular events including classical dance, folk dance, circus and shadow puppet theatre for local and international audiences which are hosted every Friday and Saturday at 7.30 PM. Sovanna Phum is also active in promoting intercultural exchanges by interacting with artists from other countries as well as working with NGOs and international organizations on different educational and awareness campaign projects. Also, Sovanna Phum’s artists can be hired for private or commercial events.
