CHILD OF MINE

Life is colors of prisms
Your image is undefined
And the world can be
A kalideoscope of horrors
But I can see you in my mind
What is past
Is irreversible
We can't change it
Even when we try
Accepting it
Can be the way out
So will you seek
So will you find
All tho' you may be far
And touch
We may never do
You are a child of mine
And each day
I pray for you
I hear you when you whisper
I see your source of pain
I'm listening so intently
I feel your constant refrain
I know your look
And my tears come forth
Just like the falling rain
For you are a child of mine
and each moment I pray for you
For I do not know
What else to do

And here it comes
Your cold of day
As you talk to me
In your frightened way
Your sky has darkened
Gone is your light
All natural motion
Lies silent and still
For you are waiting
Out the changes
I know you're going to fight
Just like the cold
Of the winter chill
And I see my tears falling
Like the leaves
Off a dying tree
And what you are to know here
Is your right to be free
So I pray for you
And I pray all day
For what you dream
I must find a way
For you are a child of mine
And I can't let things stay
This saddened way
For our wisdom is lingering
This is what we're taught
That knowledge is forthcoming
But only if it's saught
And the palettes of injustice
Must all be fought
For you are a child of mine
And my tears are coming
Like the falling rain
I wish for you
A magical life
That's bearing no stain
As I will listen to you
To take away a little
Of your pain
For you are a child of mine
And this is why
I pray.
